Hey fellow M&Mers. I have a 77 F-150 that I bought for parts. I plan on swapping whatever goodies I can to my 68, disk brakes being top of the list. I've been told that everything from the firewall forward is a direct bolt in from 65-79.

I'm wondering though, are there any track width differences between the two trucks? I don't want the front end to be any wider than it is already. Wheel bolt patterns are the same right?

Also, the 77 I beams don't look like they are as hefty as the 68. I'm wondering if Ford decided that the older I beams were overkill and they decided to save weight, or if they just wanted to save money. FWIW, the 68 was a 240 I6 originally, and the 77 has a 400M.

Now that I've decided to go to a big block in the 68, I'm assuming I will want the springs from the 77 as it has the heavy 400M. All the front end stuff has to come apart anyway right? Don't want the nose of the 68 sticking up in the air either. I guess I could get a tape measure and get off my lazy butt and go see, but that defeats the purpose of being lazy .

Sorry for the looong post, but I appreciate the help.

Thanks.

Have you tried any of the Ford truck sites? If you do an internet search there are some articles out there covering your swap. I know of a good site...not sure if posting it here would be appropriate or not!?

You mean FTE? I've checked it out. I got the instructions on how to do the swap, but no specifics on track widths, springs, etc. Guess I could pop in there and ask the same questions, but I like to ask here first.
