I think I finally found the problem! After getting the pan back on (the lower end looked great) I ran the truck to see if the new oil pump would make a difference. It didn't (of coarse). I pulled pass side rocker cover to inspect the oil baffle to make sure if wasn't clogged, and rerouted the PCV from the back of the manifold. I went ahead and pulled the drivers cover as well and hooked my compressor up to the #8 cylinder with both valves in the closed position. I heard a definite air leak in the intake manifold. I thought it may be a bent valve, even though the compression was even in all cylinders. Then I loosened both rockers and put air to it again. Solid! No leak, at least none I could hear. Torqued the exhaust rocker and heard air through the exhaust. The same for the intake. So, I was getting a severe spark knock after warm up! That would also explain the low compression results and somewhat weak low end torque.

So now I'm about to order the Crane adjustable rocker conversion kit and a set of their Energizer Rollers. I'm also going ahead and replace those valve springs since they were overheated. I'm going to try the new Trick Flow valve springs - http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=22520&from=MG

Things are starting to look up!
