I am thinking of buying a 94. It has 177K on it but runs pretty strong. Questions. 1. Did these things come with GT-40 intakes and heads? 2. What kind of mods can be done to it and keep it tame enough for the street as well as be a hauler for my race car? 3. Are there any problems I should expect to have to deal with on this truck should I buy it? I would pull the motor and rebuild it first as it has quite a few miles on it. This would probably become my daily driver too. Thanks, Rick

1. Yes, they did. 2. Good Cat-back, Computer chips, Cam changes, supercharging, there's lots you can do. 3. There's a recall on the switching valve between the two fuel tank which sometimes causes one tank to empty into the other, overfilling it. Otherwise they're Built Ford Tough! ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Be sure to remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, and Osborn Reproductions.

Thanks Steve. Now I have a few other questions. It looks like an e-AOD trans and a 8.8 rearend. What gears came in these trucks? Pretty much what you can do to a 87-93 mustang you can do to the lightning>?

If you have a flame suit, I suggest that you try f150online.com. Once you weed through the BS, there are some good guys over there. They have a Gen 1 forum. Keep in mind, you're dealing with a 5.8 as opposed to a 5.0.------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 Born on: 06/26/2000 'life's tough... it's tougher if you're stupid.'

I think the first generation had 4.30s? I know the second generation has 3.73s. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Be sure to remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, and Osborn Reproductions.

Perfect combo with the EAOD. They were either 4.30s or 4.10s. I don't have the literature handy. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Be sure to remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, and Osborn Reproductions.

'93-'95 Lightnings had 4.10 rears. The tranny is not the AOD-E, but the E4OD (large hunk of aluminum!)------------------ "My doctor says I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber; and that I am, therefore, excused from saving universes." ... Yep, the Gen 1's have 4.10's from the factory. As for rebuilding the motor, it might not need it if it's still in good shape. My 93 has 166K miles on it, and passed the emmissions test with flying colours. It doesnt use any oil and runs great. Since it passed so easily, I plan on adding some underdrive pulleys, removing one of the catylitic [sp?] convertors (looks like it has 2 on each pipe), a k&n with the diesel inlet tube, and if I can afford it, put some good hedders on it. It runs pretty good now, it has gone 9.62 1/8 mile racing, and pulls my racecar with ease down the interstate. [This message has been edited by kid vishus (edited 12-17-2002).]
