I noticed that my lower left front ball joint is starting to clunk on my '86 f-150. Can I just take the upper and lower ball joints lose and take the spindle off the ball joints, or will I have to have it re-aligned if I take the upper ball joint lose? It looks as though there is some sort of ajuster for the alignment on the upper one. If it has to be aligned I might just let it clunk for a while. But if it is an somewhat easy fix I will do it now, thanks for the help, Brandon.

There is a camber adjustment sleeve in there. They are made to have no adjustment, you just change them to change the degree of camber. The big news is that both balljoints will need to be pressed out,to change the bad one. Might as well do both of them. You will need a ball jount service kit to get them off. It looks like a huge C-clamp,with a hole and a set of cups at the fixed end. You can also use it for u-joints.
