I would like very much to use synthetic oil in my 00 PSD F350.With oil changes taking 15 quarts and changing every 4 or 5K miles the cost seems somewhat prohibitive. My question is, does anyone know how long the oil change interval could be stretched using synthetic?

I go about 20K but I do change the filter every 5K and add 2 new quarts. I have have my oil sent to Blackwood labs and even after 20K miles it was still good to go. I feel better changing every 20K which turns out to be every 4 months for me! Bill

Dad Vishus,Is the engine still within it's 100K mile warranty? The sythetics will greatly increase the change intervals, but if it's still under warranty be sure to have the lab analysis done. Protects you in case Ford tries to void the warranty for improper service and maint. From what I have been reading on The Ford-diesel forums lately, Ford is getting too picky on warranty issues and will void a warranty for almost any reason to save money. Later, David Cole
