hey guys, new to this section. Im getting my 95 ranger 4.0L worked on. The shop says that the noise that I was hearing was in fact the lifters. Now they say that in order to replace these they will definitly have to remove the intake mani, but they thru a curve at me and said the heads might have to be pulled too?? does anyone know for sure if the heads have to be removed?? thanks alot!

I haven't work on one, but it's possible. Say if the lifters are extra long and won't clear the heads as they are pulled.

That's a roller cam engine,so I'd imagine the spider that holds them probably won't come out with the heads on,but I'm not positive.

the heads will defintally have to be pulled to get thm out and thre is no spider they have grooves in the bores and a litle pin pressed in the lifter to keep them straightgood luck on the bill
