Where's a good place to get 78 F-150 parts? My truck has a funky two-tone green interior, which I happen to like, and all the repro parts are black, blue, and red. Anybody know a place that has a good selection on dashpads and carpet?

AutoKrafter has catalogs separated by year. Here's one for the '73-'79 F-Series Pickup & '78-'79 Bronco:http://www.autokrafters.com/pickupcat.html?cart=309594638185056 ------------------

I agree. I have a couple catalogs and they just plain suck. I mean, who really restores a 78 F-150, but for one of the highest production vehicles you'd think there'd be more than what there is. I'm also looking for new rubber bushings in my front suspension. It's a 4x4 with a Dana 44 front axle, and I need the rubber C bushings that go against the axle, and there's a bar on each side that goes from the front axle to a point under the floorboard, and I need the bushings for that thing too. Just can't seem to find them, especially not knowing what they're called.

I had a 78' F150 4x4 for 3 years. It's been gone for almost 2 years now and I miss it once a month - when the payment is due on the new one, ha, ha. It was brown with a brown interior. There are some decent junk yards around here as far as trucks go. I had several different colored dashes, deluxe door panels, trim, etc just laying around in my garage. When the truck went, I let all the parts go cheap as well. I recognize the post from Beaufort, SC. I was stationed down there for 2 1/2 years. There are some very nice junk yards along Route 17 - the kind with no signs. You just drive along and spot a flash of chrome or something through the brush, next thing you know you're walking through several acres of Mustangs, Chargers, Camaros, vintage trucks, etc. You ought to check that out. I was last there 6 years ago, I'm sure they are still along there. There was plenty of cars with full sized trees grown up through the engine compartments. It would be a real chore to remove all those cars, and no one was in a hurry down there.

Cool deal. I've spotted some yards just haven't had time to go check them out. I'm heading out to CAX tomorrow for a month, but I'm going to take a week of leave when I get back just to hang out and work on the car and truck (54.5 days right now on the book!!) so I'll have to go check some of these places out. Thanks for the tip. If you remember anything else, drop me an email.

Have you checked Autozone? They had all the replacement bushings for my 68. Some other Ford truck parts sites with free catalogs: www.macsauto.com www.lmctruck.com
