Can someone tell me how this linkage is prevented from prematurely wearing out throwout bearing? Seems it surely would in short time because slave cylinder is attempting to extend itself, even when pushed back to retracted position.
Is there supposed to be a spring somewhere to
pull clutch fork back overcoming this pressure, or what? cuz otherwise it woudl be pushing on throwout bearing at all times. (I have master, slave, connecting line and bellhousing off of a '90 truck to use in a 460 swap into car...). But, I must be missing something here? One person thought that there might be retracting spring at master cylinder. But, pulling master rod all the way back does not seem to affect slave at all, so suspect that is not the answer? Any hydraulic clutch experts-but-not-by-choice out there? thanks, Mike H

Anyone done their homework on these hydraulic set-ups? Hate to burn up a clutch trying to figure out how it can work...

thanks, Mike H.

Well, I tried to open my Ford truck manual on CD only to find my CD ROM isn't working.

I'll try my other PC after I cool down.

Ok, I dug out an old shop manual I had for the '86 F series. On that system, there is a retracting spring right at the clutch pedal. By the looks of the diagram, it looks like a pretty stout spring at that.

Hope this helps.

I am getting rid of the hydraulic clutch crap on my 5.0 Ranger , it appears to not be bleedable, i've given up on it. They say it's supposed to load the throwout bearing actually, and for sure it wouldn't last as long that way. A mechanical or cable is a better system.
