I have a '97 F150 4x4 ORP that has developed very noisy power steering. I replaced the power steering fluid hoping that would help but it's still as noisy as it was before. Do I need some sort of additive to keep it from squealing?

Thanks.

Is it a squeeling, or a drone sound?

Are you sure it's not the serpentine belt? Does it sound like a bunch of birds under the hood? I go through a belt every year. When I change it,I use fine emery cloth to scuff up the idler, tensioner and water pump pulleys. The noise is gone after. In fact,I just did it yesterday.

Kind of hard to define. It only happens while I'm turning the wheel. If I stop turning the wheel, the noise stops. It's kind of a groaning sound. I greased the idler arm but there aren't any grease fittings anywhere else that I could find.

My last truck{85} did that when I turned at a stop. I had 33's though. I assumed it was the pump, but I did nothing about it and it lasted to 135K,when I traded it in.
