Whatis the cc of a 1975 460 smog head, and what would be a good cam selection for my 2wd F150? (460/C6/3.55 gear, 4500lbs, use it for towing and I'd like good mileage and a 14 second ET!------------------

I've got basically the same set-up in a '78 F-150 SuperCab long bed. I originally built a '70 429 for the truck but after 200,000 miles I put on a set of '75 460 heads with a fresh valve job (and lower compression ratio). Originally I got 16 mpg empty and 10-11 mpg towing. With 3.25 gears I ran 10.teens in the 1/8th. I am running a Crane RV cam with a 600 Holley and an Edelbrock Performer 460 intake. I haven't checked the mileage with the new heads but it doesn't seem too bad. Plus the short block still has 200,000 miles on it. If you get into the 14's I'd like to see that! I would guess 16's.Tracy ------------------ Tracy M&M #245 1956 F-100 Panel w/460 (3.70 9" for Saturday night, 2.75 for road trips) 1966 F-100 SWB w/351C (3.25 pos) Music City F-100's, 1966 GT-350 S/C (2.78 1st & 3.70 TracLok 9") Music City Mustang Club Don't focus on the destination....make the JOURNEY the adventure Visit my Web site: DidgeyTrucker's Website

Hi, First off i would get a bigger carb, if you like to tune the carb, go with a holley 750 double pumper, if tou want set and forget, go with an Edelbrock 750. the cam you want to use is a comp cam 218/226 split durration cam, it is an extreme serioes cam. this cam will give you the bottom end to get 2 plus tons moving and gives you good top end, i have one myself in a 79 F250 4x4 with a 514, (stroked 460) c6 and 4.56 gears with 35" tires, while this is not a drag truck it can get up and go.
