Ok, this happened about three years ago and I told this story on "the other web site" so its gona be old news to some of the the FM bunch. My current car is my 65 Galaxie with a 466/535hp crate motor, Just prior to that I owned a 70 Torino Cobra SCJ (this will come into the story later)Im driving down the road and a guy pulls up next to me in a truck and motions me to pull over, I thought "oh oh, what did I do know". We stop and he says "you dont see many of those anymore",blah, blah, blah. Then he says, I have one with a 427 SOHC motor and would I like to see it THE END Hope that wasnt too long or boring, Theres also a short story on the Torino to tell some day. Moral of the story: Sometimes it IS ok to follow strange men home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, for some reason the whole story didnt load? ------------------ 1961 390 Fairlane 1965 460 Galaxie 1989 Mustang GT 2003 Crown Vic Sport [This message has been edited by 65460 (edited 12-28-2004).]

Is it really long? You may have to put it in two different posts. This system will let us post long messages, but it does cut it off at some point. {But it will post a really long post}------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

I don't know, this only happened to me once, when I was trying to cut & paste a magazine article. For me, it just cut it off at the end. Try Cut & Paste again. Go do a search back on fordmuscle. Click on the blue search button (not the one with the box at the very top right)Search the forum where you posted it, and write YOUR username for the author. Once you find it, highlight what you wrote, right click, then select 'copy' from the list. Then... respond to this post. Put the cursor in the box. Right click and select 'paste'. It will all show up. I don't think it's that long.... Got ya' covered... Driving the 65 yesterday and a guy tells me to "pull over",damn what did I do? He tells me you don't see many 65s,he's got one and lives close, would I like to see it?,Sure I said. We get to the house and there sits a 65 with a 427 SOHC motor ,now it's not for sale but he fired it up and while it didn't sound alot different than my 460 it did give me a woody!(the cool factor). The real kicker is after talking for awhile we both realize he sold me his 70 Torino Cobra about 15 years ago! He bought the engine out of a Hemmings classified ad.It was an old drag motor, came with the injection too, he did a complete rebuild on it. Oh I think I forgot to mention that he also had a AC Cobra he is building, but judging from all the dust and the junk piled on it he hadn't touched it in awhile.

He pops the hood and what can you say,I mean, Hemis are cool but lately they seem to be a dime a dozen, (with the exception of a Boss 9) this motor is COOL. Anyway we're talking and asks me if I recognize him, Nope, I dont, then he tells me he's the same guy that sold me my Torino (see, I told you it would figure in later on in the story) Buy the way, the Torino got T_boned by a guy about a year after I sold it We get to the house and there sits a 65 with a 427 SOHC motor ,now it's not for sale but he fired it up and while it didn't sound alot different than my 460 it did give me a woody!(the cool factor). This was about '77 or '78, and I was a kid and I used to hang out at a parts store/speed shop and the other guys there were all Mopar and GM guys. One day I went in and one of the guys said "Hey, you're a Ford guy, do you want to buy a Mustang?" He then went on to tell me his mother had a Mustang and she always hated it because it was a piece of crap that always broke down, sucked gas like crazy, and had a manual transmission. {she really hated that part} The last straw was the car suddenly lost oil pressure, and they just wanted it gone. So we went to take a look at it, and there it sat in the garage, a white '69 Boss 429. This guy hated Fords so much he didn't even tell me it was a Boss! A Mustang is a Mustang, he said, they're all pieces of sh*t! It fired right up and we only ran it for a few seconds, but it didn't make any noise but there was no oil pressure. They only wanted $1000. I passed on it! I didn't want an engine I'd have to tear right into and I figured the parts would be expensive on a Boss 429, and at the time I never gave a thought that it could have been a sending unit! I have a permanent mark where I've been kicking myself ever since. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

Ahh, the one's that got away. Had a chance to buy an R Code 66 cyclone (one of about six). No motor but the big spline 4 speed was still there along with the N case rear with 411's. Guy found it in a field and the local farmer buckled the front bumper yankin' it out with his tractor. Amazingly, it was rust free and complete except for the motor. Anyway, guy decides he'd sell it cause he was po'd at his wife for raggin' on him about it all the time. He asked me if $1000 was too much and I 'bout passed out. I arrived the next weekend with truck and trailer and $1200 cash and he mumbled, "Oh, I changed my mind"...Sheesh, talkin about lettin' the air outta a feller's tires...Oh, and Chuck, "what are "friends" for??

Two that didn't get away. Was 18 way back when and was bucking haybales for an old farmer. Needed to move two old cars out of the shed to stack some hay into it. Farmer said he was tired of having to move the cars everytime that he needed into this shed and wanted to know if I knew of anybody that might be interested in hauling them off. Guess what....I just happened to know somebody and me and my dad brought them to a good home. Only cost me my wages for hauling the hay that day. Back then about $3.00 per hour. I still have both of them at home inside. They were two completely origin 1932 5-window Ford Coupes. Oh, almost forgot, about 5-6 years later the same old farmer sold me another one that he had in another shed that I didn't know about....another 32 Ford coupe...however this one is a 3-window. All I can say is I all but stole it. It's also inside up home, still. I know this was long, but can't a guy brag once inawhile about something smart he did as a teenager!!!

The cars are about 300 miles away, still at my folks old farm. Actually, I have two 27 model T's and two 1930 model A's keeping them company. The folks collect old Cushmen motorscooter and dad has at least 20 of them. He keeps the place pretty closely guarded. I will try to snap a couple of pics the next time that I am home.

The two guys you talked to don't own the cars anymore. They sold both of them to another friend of ours. The black one is being tubbed and is going to be about 500 cid of Boss 429. It wont be done for another year. The red one he drives around the Philly suburbs. We built those cars back in the 80's. Firts the black one had a 460 in it, and the red one had a 429scj. Then they bought the Boss and Sohc motors and we changed them. The guy that owns them now shares a big garage with me. Three of us have 6 cars in there. ------------------ PHOTO ALBUMS http://community.webshots.com/user/7dmach1 CRUISE NIGHT WEB SITE http://www.geocities.com/phillycruisenite/ CAR SHOWS AND OTHER EVENTS http://www.delvalracing.net/Forums/index.php?act=calendar

Mine was in about '94 or so. I went to a show in Indian Head and a guy was selling his '68 Fastback R code. It was complete, but needed some cosmetics (paint mainly). He wanted $10k, which I couldn't have done without a loan, and with little ones at home it would have tightened my belt a bit too much. I should have bought and resold it. Probably coulda doubled my money. I got those marks on my backside over that one too.
