Alex, there used to be a 66 Meteor Montcalm 428 convert just a few blocks from my house 8 or 9 years ago. It needed a fair bit of work, but was a driver. It was for sale for $1800.00 Canadian, & I PASSED IT UP!! What was I thinking. There was another 66 Meteor 2 dr HT that was a factory 428 4 speed car, the owner had a 427SOHC that he had planned on swapping into it. However after sitting for several years, he cut it up & had it hauled away for scrap. Both pretty rare cars. I have a book on Meteors, & other Canadian Fords (Frontenac, Monarch, etc). It has production figures for most years, however it goes by body model, not engine/trans.

Nice 66 Alex. Is that Meteor in Illinois now? I recently met a guy thru Ebay (He outbid me on a 59 Meteor owners manual!) who owns a 59 Meteor Montcalm, that he imported from Canada to his home in Minnesota. The Meteors were almost as common as Fords up here in the 60`s. According to my Meteor book, there were only 1170 Meteor Montcalm converts sold in 66, the 66 Montcalm S33 convert. seen only 514 built. Considering they were only sold in Canada, with our winters in most of the country, plus the use of road salt, likely 90% of them are long gone. A pretty rare find on either side of the border. Thanks for sharing.

I`m not sure if the US big Mercs were available with a six back in the 60`s, but the Meteors were. When I was in grade 5-7, one of my best friends Dads had a mint 65 Meteor Rideau 2 door sedan with a 240 6cyl & automatic. When I got my drivers licence in 1973, our family car was a 66 Chev Biscayne with a 230 6 & Powerglide, so I kinda got used to big cars with no power steering or brakes, & precious little engine power, too!

You could not get a big Merc in the US with anything smaller than a 352 from 63 up.
