I have a budy with a '65 galaxie. He would like to put a 400 from a 73 Coountry Squire. Is this a simple bolt in swap or are there going to be any caveats? Thanks in advance. I don't much about his Galaxie, but I have enjoyed reading may of the topics in this forum.

It will go. A lot depends on what engine you presently have in the '65 and what block is in the '73. If you luck out, it may be the 400 FMX block and will have both mount patterns (Small Block/Cleveland and 429/460).Any other 400 will have the 429/460 mount pattern. Also included is an article swapping from FE to the 429/460 mount pattern. It shows you how to mofify the stock FE mounts to accept the 429/460 mount pattern (may have to shim or fabricate spacers for 400). -FE TO 385 Series Swap Info- If you have the 400 FMX block, it should sit in the GALAXY with the origional 289 mounts. quote: This is a very rare Ford 400 block, one of a very few cast to fit the standard Cleveland bellhousing. These blocks have blank engine mount bosses which can be drilled to suit standard Cleveland engine mounts making them a direct replacement for a 351C (assuming no height/width problems). Thanks to Dave Williams for that info.
