I have just installed a 1979 5.0 into my 67 Galaxie. I have had to use the 289 waterpump due to the outlet direction for my rad. Now the crank pulley and the water pump pulley touch. If I use the harmonic balancer from the 289 I can use the smaller crank pulley and have no problem. Is this a realistic solution or will it cause problems? If i cannot use this balancer is there a small waterpump pulley available. mine is 6 inches across. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Jerry Burling in the great white north.

Yes, it will work, since they are both 28.2 ounce imbalance. They switched to 50 ounce in '82, so you are set. You may need to use the earlier timing chain cover for the timing mark scale.

Thanks for the advice. I did use the 289 timing cover so I now have it all together just a few things left for the fire up. Again thank you.
