the other day i took my carborator off and that thing that connects the carb to the manifold...dont know wat its called or ..(if its part of the manifold)...i started to clean a hole on the side of the 2 holes of the manifold...the hole is about 3/8inc in diameter or soo....the the dirt fell through the hole and i took it for a driveand when i accelerate at first it starts kinda stalls until i get going about 30 mph or so..but if i accelerate fast it doesnt do it...did that dirt hurt it..any suggestions if any would be great..thanks

That will be the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) spacer. They ususlly fill with carbon and cause the system to be inoperative. Your cleaning the passage most likely opened it up enough to cause a vacuum leak, either via a stuck open EGR valve or possible corrosion of the spacer itself. ------------------ I am looking for information concerning factory performance/aftermarket speed parts (1958/1960) used on the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) (Also Thunderbird 59/60) Engine Series (383-410-430-462) produced from 1958 thru 1968.
