Did Ford put 8�� or 9�� rears in any full size cars in the 80s? What kind of rears might I find in these cars?

8.8, same as a 86 and up Fox Mustang, Cougar, T-Bird, etc.
Gears are the same, only the widths differ.

Do they all have the same bolt pattern on the axle flange?

No they don't.
Some ealy ones and police car/taxi cab packages have a 5 on 5 bolt circle.
Most others used the more common FoMoCo 5 on 4.5 bolt circle.
