Topic: 85 mercury g. marquis timing ?

running a 302,2bbl and would like to know what this timing is set at the only marks i have is 10 bftdc, and 20 with increments in between. it was set at 10 but i still have some spark knock(or pinging) could sure use some help on this one. thanks in advanceoh by the way this motor is in a 68 mustang coupe,not efi anymore [This message has been edited by surfnripcurl (edited 05-28-2003).]

What engine is the balancer from? If it is from the 85, try running the timing at six degrees BTDC.

it is from an 85 but dude across the road from me who says he rebuilt it says it has a racing cam in it??? and rolling lifters. im going to have someone else check it out to see if its true.ill set it at 6 btdc right now then adjust as needed from there[This message has been edited by surfnripcurl (edited 05-28-2003).]
