Can anyone tell me where the numbers are on a 1972 429 v8. I have had no luck in locating the numbers on the block. I was told that the motor is a "police interceptor". Is there such a motor in a 429 and how much horsepower and compression would a motor like this have? What is the difference between the "police interceptor" motors and the cobra jet motors? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Check for block casting numbers along the or just above the oilpan rail. Also check for casting numbers on the cylinder heads. Good ones to look for are coded Dove-c
