I have a one owner # matching (motor door plate rt and lt inner fenders and window plate) 68 fairlane fastback. The paint code on the door plate is (n) and comes back as a light blue met, but when i disassembled the car the entire car inside and underside including the floor pans inner firewall and everything i could uncover,(the car has been painted blue to match the interior latter in its life)was white even the original owner said it was white when he got it. all the other # are correct to the parts on the car. Does anyone know what the explination for this could be? I did not find the build sheet witch was surprising considering the interior was near mint on the car. It also has a very beefy front suspention and a 9" posi with a 302cu in motor. The man i got it from said he ordered it as a fairlane 500 fastback 302 2v auto trans 2.75 rearend power steering power brakes 2 tone interior and a few other goodies. could this car have been coming down the assembly line as something other than what it is when they got the order?

I`m pretty sure that a 1968 paint code "N" is Diamond Blue, which is an EXTREMLEY light shade of baby blue. I used to own a 70 Mach 1 with paint code N, which for 1970 was called Pastel Blue, but when I bought paint for the car, it had "1968 Ford Diamond Blue" on the label. I can`t count the number of times I had people ask me about my "white" Mustang. In cloudy conditions, it was a definite very light blue, but in bright sunlight, even I have to admit it looked quite white. If you put a piece of white paper on the car, you should see a noticable difference, depending on if it was faded very much.

Just to confuse the issue more, my Ford Master Parts Listing shows code N to be Platinum for 65-71
