Hi, all. I have a big battery drain when I turn the headlights on. I know I have a short or something. Would anyone know where to start? The car is a 1980 Fairmont. Thanks, Mike.

Does that have a headlight dimmer on the floor? If it does, that could be it. Those switches often go bad, because they are sometimes wet.You could disconnect the neg on the battery, and put a multitester between the cable and the post. That will tell if there is an amp draw. You then start pulling out fuses, one at a time and look for changes it the tester. That will tell you what circuit is in trouble. You may want to pull the radio out first because newer ones store presets, and use a little current. [This message has been edited by MLariviere (edited 03-21-2005).]
