what is the max wheel size i can stuff in the rear quarters of my 68 fairlane?

i also in one of my adventures today found a 68 gt fastback 428 car sitting in the woods (wrecked and robbed of course) but still had all the trim emblems and complete disc brake set up. most of what i was looking for. i have found the booster bracket and pedal bell crank are imposible to find.

I've got 295 50 15's on 15x8 with 4.5" backsacing on my 69 Torino. They are tight but they fit. Outer wheelwell had to be tucked some . They are close to the leaf spring too. 275 would give a tad more briething room.

I have 275/60-15 on 15x8's on my '68. The back spacing is critical with a tire that wide. My first set of rims fit with those tires but rubbed during turns. I got a 1/2" more BS and they still rub every now and then on one side. I could have went another 1/2" in. I paid $150 each for custom made style steel wheels and got to buy them twice, so measure carefully. I think 275/50-15's would be easier to fit. Plus '68 could sit higher in the rear which would help.

I think a 20x10 will fit. But for the non-Fooses amongst us 8 1/2" wide rims are about all you'll fit in 15". Bigger diameter makes the width easier to fit, less sidewall.

Yikes....20's! I think they would look tacky.
Biggest I would go would be 17's or 18's i think
for a restomod. In my opinions 20's+ only look good on big suv's or trucks.

But you'd be pimpin' wit da 24's!

The 17" rims look pretty normal nowadays and fit the car well if you find normal offsets.
