I bought a 1961 Fairlane 2 dr sedan (64H body style)and it needs new a new rear window seal, where can I get one.NOTE: Normal sources ,Dennis Carpenter, Macs,Obsotele, autokrafters, etc, dont have them, neither does Karr or Metro. One of the last two did say if I sent them a cross section and "if" they had the die they could suppy it, the catch 22 there is the seal is petrofied and if I do remove it, thats all she wrote. Any ideas ? I probably should have put this in full size since Fairlanes in 61 were really based on the full size Galaxie so if one of you guys know how I can move this post, let me know, otherwise Ill post a link on the full size board ------------------ 1961 390 Fairlane 1965 460 Galaxie 1989 Mustang GT 2003 Crown Vic Sport [This message has been edited by 65460 (edited 12-27-2004).]

Thanks for the info. If you look in a Dennis Carpenter catalog from 2000 (I think thats what my buddy has) for the rear window seal it says "comming soon"!! There is a guy in Ohio, Mark or Mike Moses of Moses Automotive that built one of these cars and it was featured in HOT ROD magazine back around 2000, I tracked him down, asked him where he got it and told him I would even buy it from him (since building cars for a living is what he does)and he could mark it up for his trouble. No dice, he wouldnt tell me.------------------ 1961 390 Fairlane 1965 460 Galaxie 1989 Mustang GT 2003 Crown Vic Sport

Have you tried www.dearbornclassics.com ??I have found them to be as good if not better than Dennis Carpenter's...and that is with Dennis's home office being within 15 miles of my house and at all the Auto Fairs at Lowes Motor Speedway twice a year..plus the Good Guys shows. ------------------ 2000 Crown Victoria (Performance and Handling Package. 1994 SVT Ford F-150 Lightning 1988 Turbo Coupe Thunderbird (5-Speed) 1988 Crown Victoria Police Package (Modified to the max) 1968 Torino GT (Fastback) 351C 4V with B&M C6 Tranny

Yup, tried them but thanks for trying to help. I see you have a 2000 Vic with the HPP option, how do you like it? I have an 03 Sport,Black, great car! I added the Maurader (sp) rear spoiler on mine. Pretty interesting when you come up on somebody in the left lane, they usually move right over for you ------------------ 1961 390 Fairlane 1965 460 Galaxie 1989 Mustang GT 2003 Crown Vic Sport [This message has been edited by 65460 (edited 12-28-2004).]

Sorry to hear that Dearborn couldn't help.Yup...Luv my 2000 HPP Vic...but in a straight line my 1988 Police Package with a built to hell 351W will dust it hands down..except in a race for distance (LOL) I really wanted to buy a Marauder in 2004..but my industry is so screwed up..I dare not take on anything that I can't pay for with Dead Presidents..regardless if they offer interest free loans or not? My 1968 Torino is my current project , mainly thre drop-in 351C 4V..and that really needs to be the cash and carry deal...If it can't be paid for with cash?..it'll just have to wait until it can be paid for that way. Good luck with your car...and beat the hell out of Hemmings for your needs...if it can't be found there? Yikes !!!

Dearborn Classic is good, but sometimes I think they should call themselves Dearborn Backorder. I'm still waiting for something I ordered in November.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip

65460, Before this thread tanks any further on the merits and or shortcomings of Dearborn Classics...let me offer up this idea. A few months ago I was messing around on the net and did a search on the old Andy Griffith TV Show. By doing so , I ran across a couple of sites dedicated to restoring and replicating old Fords to look like the various year models of cars they used over the years as the Mayberry Police Cruiser in the show. Maybe these folks could offer you some steering on this item? I also know of a local Dodge/Chrysler/GMC dealership that has a Mayberry Replicar as part of their advertising scheme. The dealership is owned by Bob Mayberry in Monroe , N.C. about 10 miles east of Charlotte. Maybe they could give you some ideas too? Just trying to help a fellow vintage Ford guy. Good luck in your quest. Regards, Allen Here's a link to try. http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/squadcarinfo.htm [This message has been edited by Lightning Fast Fords (edited 12-31-2004).]

The rear of the roofline is totally different than the Galaxie, the Fairlanr is a wrap around while the Gal is pretty much straight. The Starliner would be closer but still no cigar. ------------------ Chuck 1961 390 Fairlane 1965 460 Galaxie 1989 Mustang GT 2003 Crown Vic Sport
