It does look nice, but I always liked the formal roof over the sports roof on the 68/69 Fairlane. It just made the car seem so heavy looking or something.

When I came out of the service, I was looking at buying a stripped down Fairlane (even rubber floor mats). I couldn't go CJ as the insurance was sky high. I specd it out as a CJ drivetrain but with the 390 GT (I would have been disappointed).

Never ordered it as the insurance would have killed me. Kept driving the '57.

I am looking for information concerning factory performance/aftermarket speed parts (1958/1960) used on the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) (Also Thunderbird 59/60) Engine Series (383-410-430-462) produced from 1958 thru 1968.

Apparently others do too!!! The bidding is at 10K at the moment. I am really happy to see that. With the exception of the flames I think the car is very comparable to mine. I was afraid the car wouldn't see over $7K. I think this is the highest I have ever seen a Fairlane 500 go for.

The funny thing is I told my brother I would sell him the FB for $10K, thinking he would choke at the price. He wants to know when to bring the money. This was his car before I had it but he didn't have the ability to make it what he wanted. The car as it sits now is exactly the way he wanted it so in reality it would be a sceaming deal for him as I'm sure that even at 10K I would loose my butt.

I doubt I'll sell it to him but that doesn't keep me from thinking about it, and teasing him.
