Guys, I saw a S&H Torino two weeks ago at a weekly car meet in Williamstown, NJ. The owner actually a sweater like Starsky's on his front seat! Now makes us "matching numbers" guys seem normal. Anybody got numbers on the S&H Torino? Was the S&H package with the 460 a bonafide option by Ford? From what I read in the posts it seemed like the producers of the show created it? Was it factory? The Torino as used on the TV show was custom-painted by the producers. The show used several 75 and 76 Torinos during its production run. There are several small differences between the actual vehicles used. At the tail end of the 76 model year, Ford offerd a 'Starsky & Hutch' limited edtion model based on the TV show Torino. It was basically a 2-door hardtop Gran Torino in bright red with a big white stripe on it. There were no other specifics to that particular model. Any engine availioble was also availible in this car:351-2V all the way up to a 460-4V. None of the drivetrains were anything close to what you would 'high performnace'. No suspension mods, and there were a couple of choices for interior colors and any interior options were availible. With the right set of aftermarket wheels and tires, and an application of the black pinstripe around the white stripe(missing from the 'LE's), the cars were almost identical in appearance to the TV cars, with only a couple of differences. The stripe was shaped a little differently( and poorly taped off, I might add!), and the mirrors and bumper insert pads were a little different. There were officaily 1,000 'LE's produced by Ford, but I have seen a few sources that claim 1,001 were produced. ------------------ 1971 'J' code 429 Mach 1 1976 'Starsky & Hutch' Torino 1988 Lincoln Mark VII LSC

On a recent episode of 'FunkMasterFlex', he restored a Starsky & Hutch Torino. It was a Ford-original with the 'PS 122' tag and all. He claimed it was used as a 'backup' car on the TV show, but that is not correct. None of the Ford-produced 'S&H' cars were ever actually used on the show.

No, I know Mike Walsh, the builder of the cars for the movie, and that car was not used as either a 'hero' or a stunt car in the movie.Only one actual 'PS 122' car was used in the movie, and that was hero #2, a close-up car, completely and totally restored by Mike for the movie. No 'PS 122' cars were EVER used in the TV show, so the 'back-up' car claim is most definately bogus.
