Actually the 427-4V is W as Q is used for 428's in TBird and full size Fords in 67.There 4 different 390's, a 390-2V H code or Y code and there is a Z code 390-4V (non GT), and the S code GT. There are also some foreign export low compression engines with different codes.

5th character in the VIN needs to be a "K" if it's a Hipo car Mike. And it has to be a factory 4 speed.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,& '04 First SS/MA in the TENS! Yep, the second digit being a K just indicates the assembly plant being Kansas City, So... 4K41K.... would be a HiPo.I can't believe how many "R code" Mustangs i've heard about around here... ie: 9R01F... Being built in San Jose doesn't automatically make a 302 2V a musclecar.
