does anyone know which of the two fittings on the AOD sends fluid & which is the return line?
My fittings are on the pass. side of the case one above the other & i;m not in a position to crank engine over to see which line fluid flows from

It looks like the fluid is discharged out of the lower port and returns to the upper.

Steve: You;re the first person to give me an answer on this, some have said its the forward fitting, but i think they mean the C-4 as the AOD fittings are in line one on top of the other. Thanks

Yes, the lower port seems to come right out of the pump from what I can see in the manual, and the upper port goes to the valve body. That's my best guess without having one on my bench to look at.

I am looking for information concerning factory performance/speed parts used on the MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) Engine Series (383-410-430-462) from 1958 thru 1968.
