I told a buddy of mine who isn't car literate that I would change his blown tailight bulb in his 1997 Taurus. I 'assumed' (the mother of all you know whats!) that it would be just as simple as all the other tailight bulbs I had changed out on many different vehicles. Well it wasn't!! So after about 15 minutes of trial and error I told him he better go up to the service station and let them do it(they had changed the other one for him when it burned out). Ok...
so who has changed out a tailight on a 1997 Taurus and why do I feel like I needed a pair of needle nose pliers to do it?

Save me the embarassment of not being able to change a tailight for goodness sake!

Can't say I've had the pleasure, and from your description that sounds like a good thing.

I haven't done one either, but I'm sure the Explorer is the same thing. Don't the newer lights have a printed circuit in them, with a harness connection and use the new halogen bulbs?
