The '69 Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II had a front bumper that started as a rear bumper. It was narrowed and "V'ed" to fit the front. The slope of the Mercury hood put the grille 1-1/2" lower than the Ford and as a result the Mercury Bodies were abour 3mph faster.

The orange King Cobra above has a Boss 429 under the hood and is the only King Cobra with the convex rear window. The yellow King Cobra owned by Steve Honell has an alumimun block Can-Am 494 Wedge head engine. Bud Moore's yellow King Cobra has a 429CJ.
There was a King Cobra NASCAR test car built. It has been restored but the owner didn't want the nose. That nose is reportedly on a Ranchero in Louisiana.
There was a Mercury Cyclone Super Spoiler built, but its whereabouts are unkown. The King Cobra had so much front downforce it needed a wing bigger than the Superbird. NASCAR restricted the "AERO" cars to 305 cubic inches and in effect killed the AERO program - at least until 1983!

The Can-Am motored King Cobra:

All production Talladega's had 428CJ's and all Cyclone Spoiler II's had 351W-4V's.

The yellow King Cobra picture I posted is a photo I took of Steve Honnell's car. The one with the Aluminum 494. It's in his garage.
I have seen and photographed the orange King Cobra in Floyd Garret's Muscle Car Museum just outside of Pigeon Forge, Tn. Later (May, 2000) I saw it and photographed it in Mark Kuykendall's museum just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. It was for sale then, Mark offered it to me but I knew I couldn't afford it so I didn't ask the price. Mark's museum is now closed.

Only one Ford engine has a "4" cast on the outside of the head: 4V 351C. (Some 289 HiPo heads have a 4V cast on the outside, '68 302 4V heads have a 4V on the inside)
