Anybody catch Overhaulin last night on TV? They rebuilt a 62/63 comet vert. Really nice. Made me realize how much of a soft spot I still have in my heart for early Falcons & Comets.

This Overhaulin segment was a repeat, I`d seen this episode a few months ago. For some reason, certain models just don`t seem to "catch on". The 60-63 Comets fall into this catagory, even though Falcons of the same years are very popular. I beleive that there is very little in the way of replacement sheetmetal or other repro parts for these "foregotten Fords", so unless you find a cherry car to start with, it is an uphill battle to build one.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed [email protected] 1.32 60 foot 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. They are very rare. After seeing the show and changing my undies (to get rid of the big wet spot) I looked both on Ebay and Canada Trader and found a total of only 1 early 60's Comet. It was a 2dr HT, looked good. I Like those cars, but then again, anything Mercury gives me wood.(I think I need to seek help) [This message has been edited by Whitson (edited 10-11-2006).]

That was one of Overhaulins' better "DO'S!". They took a rotten car, looked like a "KeyWester", and turned it into a real car. Was impressed that they dumped it upside down and really fixed it.Those 1/4's were horrible! The finished car, not colorwise what I'd do, but it looked sh!t hot!! I could dig having it! My favorite Comet is a '64. Interesting thread going on about them! Got a kick out Meagan, the typical fresh brat! Gotta love her! Don't give me any sh!t, gimmie my car back!! And NO sympathy for the trumped up broken arm gig!

At least they did it right and got rid of the shock towers while they were in a cutting mood. I wasn't crazy about the colour either, but I sure liked the car.I've had 2 64 Comets in my life. One was a red Caliente 289/4V/auto and the other was brown Villager squire wagon 260/2V/auto. Wish I had them back.

Man, that's RUFF! Poor old car is probably twisted all to hell. I was looking at 64/65's on Ebay last night, there was quit a few. Nothing close to here though.

I was at the International Machine Tool Show at McCormick Place in Chicago last month and they had that car on display. Body and paint work was very nice, but it still wasn't "finished". Missing belt weatherstripping and some small things. Always wondered how that got them done so fast. Read somewhere that one of the owners was still waiting for their car to be finished, months after the show. I don't think the wait would bother me if I was lucky enough to be "overhauled".

Can't believe I missed that show -- AGAIN! I've got a 63 1/2 S22 Comet convertible - in my family since new. Originally Mom's, she taught me to drive in it when I was 11. We lived in Washington at the time and it was friggin' snowing. I had a paper route and needed to make the deliveries - but I was sick. Since only I knew where the papers had to go, I got to drive and she delivered. Mom was the best.
