Hi all, anyone know if a 1965 , 1966 Mustang steering shaft spline is the same size as the one used on a 1963 Falcon ? I want to buy a reproduction 1965/1966 Mustang steering wheel and use it on my 1963 Falcon,Will it fit the shaft ?

I think domestic model Fords are all the same from the 50's to the 80's. Your swap shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Tom,
I know that a lot of the early Mustang and Falcon parts will interchange, and I had a good idea that maybe the steering wheels would also, but before I go looking around and buy I would like to be sure that what I get will fit.I didn't know for sure, but I was thinking the Mustang shaft may be larger in diameter than the Falcon ?

I am pretty sure that the Mustang and Falcon steering shafts have the same diameter and splines.

I recently put a Woodgrain '65 Mustang steering wheel on my 1957 Thunderbird - the splines and shaft diameter were identical.

regards,

Jeff

I have a Grant wood grain on the Falcon now.I guees I could take it off and then take the adapter with me and check it with the Mustang wheel.I'm trying to avoid as much uneeded work as I can.I hoped that some one new for sure,Thanks guys.

On the Grant site they show a different installation kit for the 63.5-64 Falcons. The 65/66 Falcon and Mustang use the same kit, so there is something different and the Mustang wheel may not fit correctly even if the splines and shaft diameter are the same.
