Iam new to the forum but I have a question regarding a 64 comet that i might purchase. It appears to be a factory drag car that has not been cut or altered with the exception of no motor. It has a 9" rear end the frame is fully boxed and it has traction arms along with a top loader 4 speed. Iam wondering is this a rare car for one? and what would be some other characteristics to look for when assessing the car(i.e. door tags and or vin #s)?If anyone has some info regarding this vehicle that I have described your info would be greatly appreciated.

You did not mention what type of Comet. Here is a cite that will run the VIN and codes for Falcons. I don't know if it works on Comets. Look on the driver's door plate for the codes. You should not consider this to be a factory drag car unless you confirm it for a fact. The trans and rear could have come from the junk yard.
