A friend of mine runs a small Ford only wrecking yard, I stopped by today, & he has a fairly interesting 70 Maverick that just came in. It is Grabber Orange with a black bench seat interior, with a 250 6cyl., auto on the column, but it only has 4 lug wheels. Years ago, I had a 71 Maverick, with a 250 ("L" engine code), that had 5 lug. Also, it has dual "Sport mirrors", a black grill, rear spoiler, with the rear tail light panel painted black, the small Ford Motor Company "dog dish" hubcaps with beauty rings, and a non scooped hood, with faded hood stripes. Could this be a "Grabber"? I always thought that all the Grabbers had the dual non functional hood scoops. Oh yeah, it also has a 3 spoke "rim blow" steering wheel, which I have never seen on a Maverick before. The car had been sitting in a carport since 1972, it still has the original "Autolite" dist cap on, & is completly original looking, other than the battery & lower rad hose! Unfortunatly, there is rust on the rear wheelwells, & under the hood on the shock towers, but the fenders & doors are cherry! Man, I wish I had a bit more room.....

The early grabber didn't have the "Grabber hood" it was a flat hood with the black stripes. One way to tell if its an early mav.Grabber is if the black paint on the real light panel goes all the way to the tip of the rear spoiler. Only 71 and 72 grabbers have the Scoop type hoods. I would think if you could get it cheap you could sell it on EBAY very easy!
