i am wondering if it is possible to put a 289 ore an 302 in my comet (-62 4d sd).
anyone with a suggestion on where i find motor mounts for the 8.. the original engine was a 6, so i think a 8 should do the trick.. anyone who has done the conversion before me? please give some advise...?

Tomas..

You know, instead of going through all that it may just be easier for you to fabricate a crossmember for the engine mounts to attach to, and that would let you use the cheaper and easier to find later engine insulators.

i visited "maverickgrabber.com".

on the site, i found some information about "conversion from 6 to 8".. he also got some links to where i could find parts, but since the site mostly contains information about 70's maverick\comet, i don't know if the parts would fit on my 62'..?

I would guess it would be alot like an early 65-66 Stang? The Mavericks are a breed of there own,Even though they look like the parts would fit I'd bet they won't?

You would be better off just installing a 200. Second choice is sell your car and get one with a V-8. Here is a site for 6 to 8 swap for a 65 Mustang. Most everthing should be the same for the Comet.

You are correct 62 Comet. Some did have v-8s, 260ci, same engine family, I believe just as some Falcons did. If you could find a v-8 parts car that would be a good way to go. That way you'd have all the brackets etc.
