i had an electrical fire about a week ago from my ignition and it fried the engine gauge feed. i replaced it and other smoldered wires. and it won't start! i took the spark plugs out and cleaned them. the engine does not turn over. so please, help me i am only 16!

Did you check your fuses?

Did you change the starter solenoid on the side of your fender? You might have fried it too.

How's the battery? Do you have lights? If you do your battery's OK.

Did you find out what caused the fire by the way?

ok, i got the engine to start via starter cables. but now my gas gauge is stuck at over full and it won't move! and thats the same with the engine temp gauge. it is stuck at HOT. do you think the sending units were damaged in the electrical fire?? i just don't no what to do, but atleast my baby works

If you used starter cables I take it you had a dead battery.

Sounds like the sending units could have been damaged...but again...did you check your fuses?

yea, i have checked the fuses, but they are fine. My battery is near to new, since I just bought it like 3 days ago, so any other ideas???

AWESOME looking Ranchero there bud!!! REALLY clean!

I would check the sending units...also maybe did the battery in when things shorted...not unheard of even if new.

But...what CAUSED the fire? You don't want it happening again!

I just had a brand new battery short out and just go dead for no reason??
