Im not sure what kind of transmission comes with the 5.0 out of a stock 1984 Grand Marquis. I will probably have to fabricate my own crossmember because the tranny mount will NOT line up, its approx 4 inches off. Any other suggestions??

It's an AOD, which uses it's own crossmember. Be sure you set up the TV cable correctly on that, they can fry the transmission in no time if not set right.

What Steve said! That TV cable will be the death of it fast. Don't even try it if you really don't know what your doing. Tow it to a tranny place and have them set it up for you.

Thanks. I got a guy in my Auto Tech class that knows what he's doing. He will help me out. Next thing on the list: praying the 7.5" rear end holds up till I can afford a 9" ;-)

It won't if you beat on it! But an 8"is cheap and it will hold up to a stock 5.0 just fine. To bad you don't live near me I have three of them.

Just gotta get a good measurement for the rear end so I can go find one that is close. Id like rear disc but parking brakes on disc= crap. We got lotsa hills in WA so I kinda need it.

This is just my opinion but I think its a waste of time putting a disk brake system on a Maverick. My reasons are unless you plan on road racing it why do you need that much breaking power? Disks on the front are more than enough. Second unless you do some real serious frontend work to your Mav. Braking in a road race is going to be the least of your worries! Third Stock Disk brakes rob horsepower because of drag!Nevermind the whole E-Brake problem and not to mention more brake dust to clean!!
This is just my opinion so you will never find disks on my rearend.
