one question does anyone know of a way to replace the intermediate band on a c4 a/t without removing the transmission from the car? any info is greatly appreciated, thanks guys

I believe the band will go around the drum with the drum assembly still in the transmission. I can't really remember.

Wait a minute, of course it will. When you assemble a C4, you have all the rotating gear in before you flip it horizontal to install the bands. You don't put the bands in first.

So the answer is yes.

Steve I put my C4 from the mav. in my sons 68 stang-351W yesterday with a converter fron a 6 cyl. car it seemed to work fine then on its first trip down the road only about a half mile he pulled up to stop sign and when he got on it to go it popped out of gear and the only thing that works now is park!! Do you think the converter would pop this fast? I know a few people that have done this with great results.

Are you low on fluid the converter might of ballooned on you and now its low on fluid.Dont know just a thought..Bruce

I pulled it out and put a different converter in It ran great for about 5 miles and now it won't move!

It could I suppose. Have you checked if the filter is plugged? Also, the gasket between the valve body and case could have blown.

Or in a freak case, it could have broke the Bellevile spring. That's the way my race trans acts awhne that spring breaks. Nothing excpet for park works. But I htink in a non race application, it would be highly unlikely for it to break.
