I say just for Wayne, 'cause it seems like he and I are the only ones with Foci.

Anyway, you may already know this one, but here goes.
Turn on your ignition, but don't start the car. Press and hold your odometer tripmeter reset button, until the warning lights flash and the digital odometer display reads "TEST".

You've now got a digital diagnostic mode. Keep pressing the button, and it'll flash through different displays, such as a digital tach., exhaust temp., coolant temp., tranny temp., and a bunch of other ones that I can't identify. It also will do an instrument gauge test by sweeping the needles up and down, and test the idiot lights as well.

Now, if only we can figure out a way to plug into the diagnostic port below the dash on the driver's side to access, display, and yes, perhaps ALTER, all those settings....

Hey now, don't forget me!! I think I was the first guy here to get a focus!!!!! BTW, I already know how to change the comp settings, but don't have the computer tools to do it, nor the money for the recommended chip. I dind't know about the test promps tho thanks for the info! I hope by next summer to start my Foci's metemorphesis.... Goal? 300+ usable horsepower... it's gonna cost a small fourtune(but STILL not as much as a honda) Approx $6500, that doesn't count the engine rebuild I'm gonna need to stick on the forced induction...he he he....(EWG)

*ahem* Uhhh, yeah....but you guys aren't supposed to know about my evil plans yet

Whoops, sorry Scott,

didn't mean to exclude you there...
Hey, what's this about knowing how to change the computer's settings? Got any insider info we might like to know about?

I've got a spare laptop that I would love to be able to hook up to the ECU and be able to play around with the settings and get diagnostics.

As for horsepower, good luck in your 300hp quest, I've got an SPI, so I'll probably stay close to stock.

What kind of forced injection are you looking at? I'm hearing lots of good stuff about the Aerocharger setup for the Focus.

There are a few different companies selling OBD-II datalogging tools for use with a laptop. They are pretty cool; but you can't change anything with them. You'd have to have Ford service tools to reflash the PCM.

The datalogging feature is terrific for when you start modifying though, with adjustable FPR and especially forced induction.

I found out how to get the fog lights to come on with out the head lites I wondered why thw switch had the notch but they wouldn't come on. Thanks for the trick with the odometer.
How about the one hour radio timer with out the key in the car? Just push the volume button!
