hey i've got a 74 mav with the carter rbs single barrel carb. the wires leading to my throttle solenoid positioner were torn from the solenoid, so now its off no use. its not a HUGE deal, but it does require occasional adjustments and the car diesels when it shuts off.

anyway, i've been looking for a new one and no one seems to have them, atleast not under that name. do any of you know another name the same solenoid might go by?

i know its not the idle stop solenoid, which appears similar but doesn't have the same connection for the wires.

any help would be greatly appreicated,

anguris

Is this a 250ci engine? Is there a carb I.D. tag no.? M/T or A/T?

Is there one wire to this solenoid or two?

It's proper name is Solenoid Asm (Throttle Emission Control).

All this solenoid should do is allow the throttle plate(s) to completely shut after turning off the ignition to prevent dieseling. The other piece should just be a regular dashpot (no electric hookup) to prevent engine stall on deacceleration.

Thanx for the illustration cpmaverick!

Makes explaining things a lot easier...
