i am in need of help, i have a 72 maverick grabber 302 c-4 a/t. it currently doesnot allow it to be shifted out of drive, i have adjusted the linkages and removed the linkages, and i can not move the shift lever at the nuetral safety switch.the detent is functioning and i can move it between d and 1st gears.do i need to replace transmission or is there something i missed, i appreciate any and all help, thanks guys, ford rides forever.

Sounds like a seized shift control valve in the valve body.

Why is it a tough job? My Fords break down 1/10 the amount that all my non-Fords friends cars do. I have a gm buddy that keeps wearing out hood hinges!
