HOWDY !!! I'm new to this board, but it looks like a good bunch of Ford Folks with a lot of good info! A friend of mine just gave me a '79 Pinto Cruzin' Wagon with a 302-C-4 in it(we all need more friends like him !!!)I was wondering if the shorty headers off of a 5.0 "Fox" Mustang would fit.It has stock manafolds right now and its a pretty tight fit.
I also need a radiator (he rear ended a 4x4 and the hitch took out the rad.and grille)He had a Toyota truck rad. in it but there has got to be something else that will fit.
Anybody on here have a 302 Pinto that has already been through this? Thanks !

Welcome to M&M!

I'm not sure if the Fox headers will fit the Pinto, but I always thought that the Pintos had plenty of engine bay room?

You might ask this question in the Mustang II forum, they are your cousins even if they won't admit it!

it has been a while since i considered a V8 swap into a pinto(15 years at least), but as i recall the swap headers had some unusual bends in them. i also recall the stock manifolds would not fit mostly because of where the exit was.

Yeah, the ones I've seen have the front pipes come out in front of the crossmember, IIRC.

Very unique headers.

I had a V8 Pinto years ago.... loved it.

The Fox body stuff won't even come close to fitting and those things aren't going to be any improvement anyways. I had old Herbert&Meek headers on mine, they swept forward like a rams horns and dumped in front of the steering rack. Hooker still makes theirs i think. Most MustangII headers ought to fit 74-80 Pinto's.

The rad for 79 has lots more room than the 72 i had, what i'd do is use a crossflow rad mounted beneath the rad support, you'd need to trim the sheetmetal away beside it if this isn't already done.
