I thought this would have been broadcast all over by now... but i can't find even a mention anywhere.

Ford Racing has introduced a bolt in V8 kit to put a 5.0L into a Focus using only hand tools. Converts to rear wheel drive with an 8.8" rear end and everything.

My buddy saw the car at Las Vegas NHRA Race at the Ford display trailer, he talked to the guys ...touched it with his bare hands it was bright blue with Torq Thrust wheels...i saw a picture... it DOES exist.

Anyone here heard of this or have more info?

Tom

I don't doubt you that it does exsist, however I don't know anything about the kit being released.

Most likely they are gauging public opinion, and it is not avaliable yet. It is certainly not on thier website.

It certainly isn't on their website...or anyones.

It exists, Garry asked LOTS about it... the car debuting at the SEMA show this week (almost over now) is a production kit... it uses plugs in the spindles where the half shafts went whereas the car at Vegas race last week used aftermarket struts and control arms.

This thing is supposed to bolt together in 2 weekends needing nothing more exotic than a hand grinder.

A 5.0 driveline sounds like the only way I'd buy a Focus.Doubt if it would pass California smog, tho.

I used a similar "factory kit" to put the Sunbeam Tiger 289 in my Morris.
Tom,it's November 1st not April 1st.Or is it?

Someone posted this link on another board that I visit. Check it out. The parts are a little pricey but I suppose if you have 14 large to spend on a car just to drive it home and gut it out, it's not that bad.

interesting stuff... they show the parts and installed components, i had wondered how a tranny could possibly fit under the floor.

You certainly don't need all those components as a Focus alternator and A/C compressor could be re-used.(like you really NEED A/C?? )

The back has me curious, rear suspension, gas tank, etc.

I saw a little picture in HotRod I think . I seem to remember that the engine mounts bolt in up high on the inner fenders and the intake being right at hood level. Not much a sleeper with half an engine hangin out.

Until I saw this post about the V8 powered Focus, I was all jacked up about the '89 SHO I am about to take possession of. I was considering the why's and wherefore's of puttin a SHO engine/transaxle in a Focus a la Festiva SHOgun (mid-engine). Now the whole things seems like a bore.

Since I brought it up, do any of you know if anyone else is thinking like I am??
