replacing the 302 with 351W. have already notched and replated the shock towers, and gained 2 inches on each side. question - What headers will fit this car now? Anyone out there that has already donr this, please help with info. thanks mike

gained 2" each side? how'dya do that?? The control arms aren't moved are they?

A buddy is doing this swap, he has new Edelbrock Victor race heads and wants me to make some headers... Yikes! there isn't even room for the needed 1 7/8" or 2" tubes, it looks like time for some surgery by Dr. Acetylene. The 302 Maverick headers are closest to fitting but still will need modification.

the shock towers have a little angle to them, if you cut straight down the tower you gain 2 inches at the bottom and 1.25 inches at the top. but the bottom is where you need the extra room, so it works out great. then i welded new face plaaces on with 1/8 steel.

Yeah I was just lookin at mine yesterday and there is a lot of extra material inwards of the control arm mounting.
