Does any one know if the complete steering (box, pitman/idlerarm, centerlink, tie rod and adjusting sleeves) from a 65 mustang will fit on a 64 falcon? The steering box looks like it will bolt right up. The idlerarm has 3 holes on the falcon and only 2 on the mustang...none match up, but there is a hole on the exterior of the frame (not being used) which looks like it will line up with the mustang one. A friend said his brother did the swap and there weren't any problems. I believe that the falcon steering changed on 6/10/64 to the 65 stuff. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks
Tomstir

Anyone!!?? Ok... let's try another approach. Does anyone have a 65 falcon and could they tell me how many bolts are holding their idler arm to the frame...2 or 3?

Any help is appreciated

Tom

Tom, I used '65 V8 Falcon manual steering pitman, center link, inner tie rods and idler on my '62.The idler arm for a '65 has 2 bolts holding it on same as '60-'62.The '63 and '64 V8 cars have the 3 bolt set up.I have heard that the Mustang centerlink and pitman arm won't work on a Falcon, but not sure why.The Mustang parts sure are cheaper to buy tho.

front ends parts for the most are specific to F'lane. If you want to wait a few weeks i'\m pulling my complete front end ,with 11" granda breaks , for a mustang 11 install.

Fairlane yes, Falcon no. I don't know about Falcon to Mustang interchange but the Fairlane box is very different-- it is also the same as the Maverick/Comet.

Mustang stuff fits but the steering wheel shaft is longer. A bonus is that the steering becomes much more precise too. Only bad part is the wheel will be 2" out from the signal switch unless you use the outer column jacket from the Mustang.
