anyone have a wiring diagram that has the headlight switch and dimmer switch included? anyone care to give me headlight wiring 101?I was driving home, the headlights went out and the dash lights stayed on, it did this 3 times. 2 more times, the headlights went out, but the dash lights did too. the engine never went out or sputtered, so I didn't lose power, the stereo was still running... I dunno. I cut the lights on and off and hit the dimmer switch until they came back(neither seemed to help), I couldn't recreate the problem after I got home either. ------------------ 74 Mercury Comet 302, Performer 289 intake, Holley 600, Hooker Super Comps AOD 3:1 My webiste

Replace the headlight switch. It has a built in breaker so when it overloads it trips the breaker and resets. Fords have always had this problem and we sell headlight switches like crazy. Yes, especially if you have halogen headlights; they draw more amps than the OEM units and the switch can't deal with it. Newer switches are more heavy-duty (may I recommend Ford service parts?)

I'm gonna go play with it some more tomorrow, I think its my dimmer switch. it only works on high beam now, the switch is hard as hell to move... glad I don't have to drive it much lately... I'd have a slight problem...

I think the dimmer switch is your best bet it is a common malfuction, flip the switch several times to clean the contacts usely rust or dirt collects on the contacts or just replace it there cheap

I went to swap out my dimmer switch, it works now. plugged in the working one, it dims fine. I pulled it out, plugged in the old one, it works fine... working on stuff sucks. I think moisture got in there, I do still have a leak, and there was one helluva storm that night... but it never did come back on until I fought with it...
