I know a 302 engine fits into my '70 Maverick but some modifications in the trans tunnel need to be done. I would like to know exactly what that is. I would greatly appreciate this information so that I dont mess up.

Welcome to M&M!!!!

No modifications should be necessary to the tranny tunnel! Although the 1970 transmission tunnel was smaller on the 1970 Mavericks, if you run a C4 transmission on your 302 you will have no clearance problems. Just make sure you get the right engine mounts. you can also get the C4 from a mustang 2 as they have a smaller bellhousing and flywheel. still no mods.
