My '68 Small Block Toploader is leaking. It was leaking before I rebuilt it, and still is. What could this be?! I cleaned it and used a new Ford gasket set. I put silicone on the bolts and a little on the gaskets as well. It seems to be leaking where the tailshaft attaches to the case, but It's hard to tell.

I had the same problem...i took the tail off, put on a new gasket and torqued the bolts to their proper specs in a cross pattern. She never leaked again. did you try that?------------------ Mark 1965 HIPO Cyclone

Don't use silicone on a toploader. Use the yellow 3m on the bolt threads on the tail and bearing retainer. For the torque specs go to www.4speedtoploaders.com/torque&gear.htm

Thanks for the warm welcome! You can link the site and add it to the archives if you like. We are here to help if someone wants to do their own rebuild / upgrade or have us do it for them.
