I received a very nice e-mail from a Gentleman who sent me info on a '68 Dealer Special Mustang"

He was looking for info on the following (see below) when he ran across the 68 info.
Can we help him in his search for more information on the Cougar 500's

I still hope to find something out about a short run of 1968 Mercury
Cougars called Cougar 500s (that's why I was researching ads in the
Washington Post microfilms). According to a Cougar expert, 16 White 428 CJ
[R-code] Cougars were built in succession, with 6 going to the Atlanta
(DSO 21) region and 10 going to the Washington, D.C. (DSO 17) region.
They were all built in May, 1968.

I saw a cougar in a salvage yard today that had "cougar 500" on it wonder if it was one of them or a clone maybe worth a closer look? and Atlanta isn't that far away
