I'm working on a couple of 68 Cougars with aftermarket rims, and feeling very ignorant compared with 68 Stangs Is there are a resource out in web land that deals with Cougar rims and which ones came on which models?
Alternatively, if I were to post a bunch of pics here on 68s that I've gathered would you all be able to tell me which ones are original, what they're called, etc.?
Many thanks,
Simon

I am no expert, but I am pretty sure for 67/8's the only rims that they had were either these...

& the XR7,G's were the only ones that had these I believe... ,the rest were variations of spoked hubcaps. Hope this helps a little.

Interesting and confusing Based on my research, I've come up with the following three - one styled steel rim (center) and two hubcaps. The one on the right just came off e-Bay, and we know how inaccurate those can be!
I've never seen anything like those rims in the second pic, Kellxr7. Is that supposed to be an original promo pic?
OK, here's what I got ...

Hey Simon, The wheel in the center of your picture is correct with the mercury man center. The hubcap on the right is for a 69 cougar. The hubcap on the left is eitheer 67 or 68 but I'm not sure which.

..... we always called them "turbo" wheelcovers .... i have no idea if that is a 'true' name or just something we thought sounded good ..... sometimes my young mind gets distracted and details go out the window .... heh heh heh

That's the one in your second pic above, right? I always thought that in the time period we're talking about, spoked rims were always (almost always?) a dealer add-on. Do you think they rolled out the factory that way? Is there anything to indicate they're "Cougar" spoked rims? Or a FoMoCo stamp?
