i was searching to find out what rearend came stock on a 68 cougar ? i was told it was a nine inch but it sure doesnt look like one....... . the guy that sold it to me has already lied about several things before i bought the car, so im trying to find what else he was lying about , for instants, before i bought it, "yeah, it has four wheel disc brakes", so i get under her, i look and i was like u mean power disc front brakes, he said , o o o o um yeah. so im wondering about the rear end

Cool beans. You will have to have your driveshaft shortened and balanced, of course. Since the 9 inch is bigger, it moves the yoke forward.

Are you sure you need the 9 inch? That's one of the most common ways guys waste money building their cars. Most small blocks don't make enough power to hurt a 8 inch.

Could someone have already swapped in a 9?? See if you can get a socket on the lower bolts of the pumpkin. My 68 Mustang Coupe had a 302 and someone put a 9? out of a 69 in it.
