Hello all, I have been getting a little more done to the cougar lately. Conversion to manual steering is complete! No drive reports yet, though. Actually pretty easy, although I took my sweet time doing it. I used the adapter like the one MustangsPlus sells. I picked mine up from Virginia Mustang for 99.95. It was necessary to get a new water pump pulley in order to be able to run it off of the alternator instead of the previously used power steering pump. Since I already have underdrive pulleys on the car, I went back to March to get a new pulley. I forget the cost right now. The only other cost involved was a new alternator/water pump belt, $3. Next up- new fuel pump and lines. How are your winter projects coming along?

So far my winter projects are not to much. Especially when I have only a 1 car dinky garage. But I try and make do. I've had the choke shroud removed from my 830 DP carb and went up a couple jet sizes with rear jet extensions. Installed a chrome thermostat housing also. Thinking about installing a tranny temp sensor/gauge here pretty soon also. Finally I'll be farting around with replacing my sealed hood scoop with an open one, in case I run across a good deal on a strip dominator or funnelweb. I know its not much stuff, but it passes the time a little. I have armstrong steering on my cougar also.

Quick update- Still haven't gotten around to replacing fuel pump yet, but the kinked lines were replaced. After a trip to the track over memorial day weekend, little fixings and the removal of the power steering was worth 3 tenths over the previous best ET. Next up- rebuilding traction lock rear end, and upgrading stall converter. Then, a whole new project - 69 Cougar convertible!
